Choppy, range-bound trade continues as Nifty holds above 24,600

Welcome to Aftermarket Report, a newsletter where we do a quick daily wrap-up of what happened in the markets, both in India and globally.
In our latest episode of In The Money by Zerodha, we go deep into what actually happens after the market closes, from the moment trading stops at 3:30 PM to the moment you open Kite the next morning and everything looks perfectly normal.
Most traders think their job ends when they hit buy or sell. The broker’s job is just beginning.
After 3:30 PM, an entire overnight machinery kicks in, files from the exchange, back office systems processing every trade, shares physically moving between accounts, obligation reconciliation, P&L calculations, fund payouts in four separate batches, and regulators getting their reports, all of it running through the night while you sleep, so that by the time you log in tomorrow morning, your numbers are exactly right.
Markets Today
Nifty opened flat at 24,641, despite buoyant global cues, as the market continued to remain stuck in a narrow trading range. After a choppy start, the index witnessed sharp intraday swings in both directions through the first hour but largely stayed confined to the 24,6120–24,660 zone.
Buying momentum picked up around 11 AM, pushing Nifty to an intraday high near 24,675, but the gains were short-lived as the index quickly gave them up before the first half ended.
Volatility remained elevated in the second half, with frequent sharp reversals and an intraday low near 24,605 around 1:45 PM. After a few more back-and-forth moves, Nifty eventually settled at 24,636, ending almost unchanged as another range-bound session extended the ongoing phase of consolidation.

Management Chatter
In this section, we highlight interesting comments from management at major companies and from policymakers in the Indian and Global Economies.
Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, raised the alarm over elevated leverage, adding that investors should be mindful:
“Margin debt is the highest it has ever been. There is a lot of margin debt you don’t see because it is not called margin debt. It is called other things. It is that kind of leverage, some hidden, some public”
“When you have that, you do have a higher chance that somebody will disrupt the market in a quick way, and people get rattled over it” - Link
Management of Uno Minda highlighted the scale of the seating opportunity:
“Seating as a product has consistently been adding a lot of value. It is going up to almost ₹30,000–40,000 as a kit value per car. This will be one of the largest kit-value products in the group, or perhaps even larger than the alloy wheel segment in terms of kit value per car.” - Link
